Airplane noise

airplane-noiseRecently the FAA in conjunction with City of Houston’s Airport System (HAS) have implemented NextGen, a software based flight-routing system that automatically routes airplanes to and from Houston International Airport (IAH). The NextGen system routes airplanes according to the most direct flight path between airports, often disregarding pre-existing flight paths that took neighborhoods into consideration.

Previously airplanes landing at IAH turned over Lake Houston and Lake Houston Park in their approach to IAH. Now airplanes simply turn over Kingwood and Forest Cove. Airplanes taking off now accelerate over Forest Cove. This has led to concerns over increased airplane noise, in particular at night and early mornings.

Forest Cove Board member Beau Tardy along with the Kingwood Super Neighborhood Council have met with HAS officials and have requested a meeting with the FAA concerning these matters. We would like to get your opinion in order to better communicate any concerns you may have. Thank you for answering these quick poll questions. (this poll is entirely anonymous)
